Construction and Maintenance

Electrix has broad experience in the Construction, Servicing and Maintenance of overhead and underground electricity distribution systems and this experience extends across asset owners in several Australian states and New Zealand.

Services include:

• Live line “glove and barrier” and “hot stick” techniques;
• Specialised cable jointing services;
• 24/7 Fault repair services including emergency response;
• Metering services including meter replacements and new connections;

Electrix understands how electrical distribution networks operate and the challenges network owners face in managing the balance between operational, maintenance and capital requirements.

Asset Inspection

With many billions of dollars invested in electricity poles and wires networks, the importance of a comprehensive Asset Inspection and Management process is widely recognized within the electrical distribution and transmission industry. Electrix is recognized as a leading supplier of Asset Inspection services across Australia with contracts involving inspection of over 250,000 poles and other network assets per annum.

Innovative technology including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s) is used to ensure cost effective solutions are available to provide high quality outcomes in all operating environments. Electrix holds a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) UAV Operators Certificate, which allows us to safely operate a high performance AscTec Falcon 8 UAV. The unit has in-built magnetic shielding for safe operation when in close proximity to electricity infrastructure and utilises a high resolution camera for capturing high quality images for the client.

Similarly Electrix is working with a range of technology partners to trial and implement a range of non-destructive testing procedures to further enhance the quality and accuracy of the assessment process in order to maximise asset life and ensure network safety.

Street Lighting

Maintenance of public lighting assets is a core business for Electrix in both Australia and New Zealand. We currently provide maintenance services for public lighting assets managed by Auckland Transport in New Zealand and for Powercor, CitiPower and AusNet Services across their respective network areas in Victoria, Australia. Electrix has held many of these contracts for extended periods which is a strong endorsement by our customers of the value we provide.

These contracts require Electrix to maintain more than 250,000 lighting points across a range of CBD, suburban and regional locations. We have completed a number of energy efficient LED streetlight upgrade projects for councils and utilities in Australia and New Zealand and are an accredited service provider with most electricity network owners across both countries.

Smart Lighting and Smart Cities

Our capability and services in the Distribution market extend to the application of new technologies around smart lighting.

Developments in LED street lighting technology provide the opportunity to create smart lighting solutions which provide improved lighting outcomes for the community as well as creating major reductions in energy consumption and maintenance requirements. When combined with communication and networking capabilities flow on benefits from cost savings enable funds to be channelled into other programs and works to benefit the community.

Through the VINCI Energies “Citeos” brand, Electrix offers asset owners a proven approach to smart lighting projects that increasingly will provide a sound platform for implementation of comprehensive smart city solutions. These services can be provided under a range of innovative contract models including Energy Performance Contracts where the customer receives guarantees around system performance and energy savings.

“Citeos” is the brand of VINCI Energies dedicated to street lighting, electric urban equipment, festive illuminations and artistic illuminations. A leader in France, it possesses the expertise for design, installation, maintenance and operation of urban equipment, and gathers 1,500 professionals in 68 companies for a turnover of more than €350 million with 1.5 million lighting points maintained. Citeos makes cites more attractive, safer and comfortable through the application of smart city technologies encompassing; smart pubic lighting, enhancement of community and cultural sites, dynamic urban equipment, connected object supervision and remote management systems, and transport infrastructure equipment.

As an existing provider of street lighting maintenance and construction services, Electrix has an established reputation for managing all of the logistical and operational challenges of street light maintenance and has strong relationships in place with key stakeholders, equipment vendors and decision makers.

Electrix is highly skilled in implementing project management systems to accommodate our customers' requirements, and provide quality documentation to support our customers in management of their projects and meeting regulatory requirements.

The Electrix team has extensive experience using a variety of Customer Management Systems and Workflow programmes to capture customer fault details, log customers requests and map cable and pipe location services.
